Kesa Sewing

tl_files/images/pratique/couture1.jpg

The kesa is the garment of transmission. When a monk or a nun is ordained, he/she receives the bowl, the rakusu and the kesa from the master.

Each person sews his own rakusu and kesa. The right method is transmitted from person to person; no book can transmit the essence.

At the Montréal dojo, sewing sessions are held once or twice a month, usally on Sunday. Kesa sewing is also taught during zen days, sesshins and the summer camp.

Knowing and living zen according to Master Taisen Deshimaru's teaching.
